What’s New in 2025?
Nostalgia is back with a bang – and cuts that can trace their roots to the 1960s and 1990s will be especially en vogue in 2025.
So too are cuts inspired by mythical creatures – both pixie and fairy cuts will be everywhere over the next twelve months.
Here are just a few of the main styles you can expect to see a lot of this year.
1. Jane Birkin Bangs
Inspired by the English actress and chanteuse, Birkin Bangs will be as in demand as the eponymous Birkin bag in 2025. The Birkin bangs (or fringe as it’s known in the UK) are layered and centre-parted to give the wearer an elfine appeal.
2. The ’90s Blowout
The bigger the better will likely be the mantra in 2025. And it doesn’t come much bigger than 90’s hairdos, which were all about masses of volume and structure.
3. The Sculpted Shag
The unkempt shag haircut has been a favourite for a while, but 2025 will be the year when it comes to age. The sculpted shag is a more refined version of the original, featuring angular geometry, cleaner lines and longer layers.
4. The Pixie Cut
Always a social media favourite, the Pixie cut is a close cut that brings greater definition by enhancing the cheekbones. A new take on the Pixie will likely become popular this year, with both edgy rocker-style pixie cuts and boyish cuts both taking off.
5. Ultra-Short Bobs
A micro bob is an ultra-short take on the classic bob. The hair length sits between the cheekbone and chin, accentuating the wearer’s bone structure. Easily adaptable to the wearer’s preferences, a micro bob can be worn both straight and wavy.
